Donna Whitley
Donna
Whitley is a lifelong resident of Greenville, North Carolina -
except for the time she studied at Woman's College (now the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro), worked for the honorable Senator
Sam J. Ervin, Jr., in Washington, DC, and the National Confere nce
for New Polotics in Chicago, and traveled across Europe and the
Sahara Desert.
Married
to a Kacem Sebti, son of a Moroccan Ambassador, whom she met while
in Morocco belly dancing in a nightclub, her proudest achievements
are her 30 year marriage and the rearing of Farah Lisa and Adam.
They are young adults who her friend Mary described in her newspaper
column as "...loving, intelligent, talented, creative, cultured,
well-mannered, and kind individuals." Donna agrees.
For
28 years, Donna has taught belly dancing. For 20 years she has
been a Mary Kay Consultant.
The
past 8 years Donna has taught the seminar Roadmap to Riches on
$12.50 Per Week at community colleges and private workshops. The
Dance of Life: A Business Devoted to Empowering Women Through
Classes in Money, Movement, and Makeup is the umbrella organization.
These
businesses enabled her to stay at home with her children and be
an active volunteer in local politics, PTA, and church. Her passion
for travel has taken her to West Africa and China to study dance,
Chuba and Vietnam on work mission visits, and Morocco to enjoy
family and fun.
Donna's
other passion includes empowering women politically. Since 1991,
the Sallie Southall Cotten Club, one hundred women strong, has
successfully elected women to the school board, county commission,
and North Carolina legislature.
Since
her children graduated from high school, Donna's energy has been
devoted to writing her book. Her commitment is to educating women
in America and the world about how to become financially independent.
